Mike is a veteran teacher of 15 years. He has taught every subject in middle school at least once but is a special education teacher whose current subject concentration is mathematics.

Bree has been teaching for 5 years and has taught science and math at every middle school grade level at least once. She is currently teaching math.

We met while teaching together at the same school. We quickly became friends, dated, and after an elaborate proposal, Bree agreed to marry Mike. We enjoy our time together but having been looking for a hobby to share. Bringing in Mike’s journalistic and writing experience along with Bree’s creative ideas and passion, Making it in Middle School Blog idea was formed.

We hope to share ideas, tips, experiences and frustrations with the thousands of teachers who are out there trying to make it in a very rewarding but challenging field.
